Speaking Engagements
"An artist's obligation is to capture a single moment with integrity and authenticity and somehow entwine it with that which evokes an emotional response from the viewer. If I can help someone to feel good about life and our past and tell a story at the same time; I am then closer to my goal as an Artist."
— D. Sven Lindauer
Award-winning artist Sven Lindauer has been painting, sculpting and carving professionally for decades. He’s an accomplished author and presenter based on his works and the stories behind them.
At the start of his career, Sven's work most heavily featured popular Western motifs, ranging in style from loose sketches to photorealistic paintings. At that time, his work as a ranch hand inspired much of the subject matter in his art. He has spent the next four decades perfecting his craft, refining his style, and creating records of history that are brimming with life.
As he developed his own distinctive style, Sven was recognized for his striking images of wildlife and horses. He was awarded Artist of the Year three years in a row by the International Wildlife Film Festival in Missoula, MT, and featured on ESPN painting on location at the Kentucky Oaks Horse Races. Sven's work focused on historical painting, including work for National Geographic TV, and being the Official Historical Artist for the U.S. Marshall Service Museum.
Sven’s paintings and sculptures are designed to evoke an emotional response from the viewer. His pieces often have people smiling and laughing, doing everyday activities, and in community with one another. In understanding other peoples, it is integral to see our similarities, and recognize that we are not so different from each other.
The details are enhanced by the beautifully handcrafted frames built to complement each painting. His sculpture bases are appropriately sourced to enhance the history behind each piece.
His work is in private and museum collections all over the world. He has traveled the globe extensively and is the only living artist in the world's largest private collection of Van Goghs and Manets in Tokyo. Commissioned pieces are featured in the: Favell Museum of Native American Artifacts and Contemporary Western Art, Klamath Falls, OR, U.S. Marshall Service National Museum, Laramie, WY, The High Desert Museum, Bend, OR, featured by ESPN at the Kentucky Oaks Horse Races and the Scandinavian Hall of Fame
Seven years ago, Sven teamed up with antler furniture designer and builder Doug Nordberg to co-manage the Nordberg Lindauer Gallery in downtown Cody, Wyoming. As of September 2024, Sven no longer requires a shared gallery and has transitioned to working from his home studio to accommodate rising demand.
